American Red Cross Los Angeles Region

The American Red Cross provides quality services to the men, women, and families of our U.S. Armed Forces through chapter caseworkers, both employees and volunteers. Basic services include: problem solving and crisis intervention, emergency communication between veterans and their families, assistance with grants for veterans and their dependents for emergency travel or housing.

Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA)

The city’s Affordable Housing Roster contains properties that have been built or rehabilitated with public funding, created through land-use concessions, or with other local, state and federal financing. To inquire about vacancies and income or other occupancy restrictions, call the property's listed phone number. Please note they do not provide rental applications and that these properties may not have vacancies or will have lengthy waiting lists.

Los Angeles County Housing Resource Center

The Los Angeles County Housing Resource Center website strives to bring new information and tools for assisting homeless veterans and their families find affordable housing throughout Los Angeles County.

Foundation for Women Warriors

This agency provides support in the form of housing assistance, resource and referral services, and home visits for women veterans and survivors of veterans. Services include housing subsidies, emergency subsidies, home visits, advocacy, and a ‘care’ club to provide basic living necessities and transitional items for women.

Rent Assistance

Rent Assistance is a free online database of agencies and organizations that will help you pay your rent. Some listings are government organizations other are non-profits and charities throughout Los Angeles County that offer rental assistance programs for low income persons in need. Each organization has its own eligibility rules and conditions and you are encouraged to call directly to find out what you need to do.

Southern California Salvation Army

The Salvation Army provides services for veterans in the areas of housing, employment, and supportive services.                               

U. S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

This website provides links and contact information for many of the organizations that impact and serve veterans nationally.  HUD Vet facilitates collaboration among Federal agencies and veteran-serving organizations regarding programs for veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.  HUD Vet’s State and Local Resources directory assists the coordination of community-based Continuum of Care services for homeless veterans.

Weingart Center Association

The Weingart Center Association provides men and women with the skills, resources and hope they need to break the cycle of homelessness and lead self-sufficient lives. They offer a secure living environment and have numerous residential programs tailored for homeless veterans.

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) founded the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans hotline to ensure that homeless Veterans or Veterans at risk for homelessness have free, 24/7 access to trained counselors. The hotline is intended to assist homeless Veterans and their families, VA Medical Centers, federal, state and local partners, community agencies, service providers and others in the community. To be connected with a trained VA staff member call 1-877-4AID VET (877-424-3838).

VA Loans

VA Loans specialize in getting VA mortgage loans. They offer a full menu of loan products focused on meeting the home financing needs of active and inactive duty military across the country.

Villages at Cabrillo VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic

The Villages at Cabrillo is a unique residential community offering transitional housing for homeless veterans, families, and youth. This 26-acre facility is administered by the United States Veterans Initiative.
