Medicare Savings Program (MSP)

Medicare Savings Programs help pay for your Medicare premiums and/or deductibles and co-insurance fees.

There are four MSP programs:
Basic Eligibility Requirements
  • You must reside in California. 
  • You must provide verification of income, property/resources, and other necessary information if requested. 
  • You must be entitled to receive or must be receiving Medicare Parts A and/or B.
Income Requirements

Below are the income limits to qualify for the MSP Programs based on the Federal Poverty Levels (FPL) amounts.

Citizenship/Immigration Requirements

You must be a Citizen or have Satisfactory Immigration Status to qualify for MSP.

Renewal Requirements

Your Medi-Cal eligibility must be renewed at least once a year.

Apply By Phone
You can apply by phone. Call the Customer Service Center (CSC) (866) 613-3777 to have an application mailed to you.
Apply In Person
You can apply In person at any Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) District Office or outreach site.
