Please note the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) Civil Rights Section can only evaluate and investigate allegations of Civil Rights discrimination filed by DPSS customers/applicants or their authorized representatives, against DPSS employees or our contracted partners.
The Los Angeles DPSS Civil Rights Section does not investigate complaints related to private businesses, or other government departments and agencies as they are not under our jurisdiction. If your complaint is outside of our jurisdiction, unrelated to civil rights discrimination or over 180 days from the complaint incident, it will not be investigated.
If your complaint is regarding a case action or inaction that you do not agree with and is unrelated to civil rights discrimination, you may call 1-800-952-5253 to file an appeal and request a State Hearing. You may also file an online request for state hearing at Hearing Requests.
For all eligibility related concerns, you may reach the DPSS Customer Service Center at (866) 613-3777 or the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Helpline at (888) 822-9622.
