Management Information and Evaluation (MIE)

The Management Information and Evaluation (MIE) Section is responsible for ensuring that your case is correctly processed and that the correct benefits are given according to County, State, and Federal policies.

The Management Information and Evaluation (MIE) Section is responsible for ensuring that your case is correctly processed and that the correct benefits are given according to County, State, and Federal policies. The Department conducts the following reviews of:
  • Random CalFresh cases to determine if the benefits were issued correctly according to policies and regulations stated in The Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 and the Code of Federal Regulations.
  • In-Home Supportive Services cases by collecting yearly data.  A minimum of 1,300 full desk reviews and 260 home visits per year are done to assess the effectiveness of the program to meet the California Department of Social Services requirements.
  • At least 3,000 Welfare-to-Work families are reviewed yearly to meet the requirements of the Federal Deficit Reduction Act of 2005. States are required to meet the 50% Work Participation Rate for all families receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families and 90% for two-parent households.
MIE is responsible for managing the following departmental activities:
  • Audit Liaison and Corrective Action Monitoring
  • CalFresh Program Quality Assurance/Quality Control Monitoring
  • Medi-Cal Program Quality Control Monitoring
  • In-Home Supportive Services Quality Assurance Monitoring
  • Welfare-to-Work Monitoring
  • WINS Review of Non-Assistance CalFresh Households
