LET’S EAT, L.A.: CELEBRATING FOOD, CULTURE, AND FAMILY DURING MARCH NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH

The Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) and Metro Los Angeles are partnering for this year’s National Nutrition Month to help amplify the message that good health starts with good nutrition.

Each year in March, health and nutrition professionals share their knowledge and tips with the goal to emphasize the importance of good nutrition.  National Nutrition Month is also an opportunity for DPSS to highlight the CalFresh Program, the supplemental food benefit that helps improve nutrition by increasing the food-buying power of L.A. County residents so they can purchase enough food to meet their household's needs.

In keeping with the spirit of this year’s national theme, "Food Connects Us,” DPSS and Metro are championing the idea that a delicious meal can bring together families and people across all cultures, backgrounds, and generations. Mealtimes have proven to be the cornerstone of community and relationship building in culturally rich L.A. County.

Throughout March, Metro will utilize its communications platforms that connect with thousands of residents countywide daily.  Bus riders will be greeted with colorful ads that promote CalFresh and serve as a reminder to better care for themselves and their loved ones.

L.A. County residents can follow and support the campaign by sharing the #LetsEatLA and #ChooseCalFresh hashtags. Information can also be found on the DPSS Food and Nutrition webpage, or by subscribing to the weekly Essential DPSS Newsletter on the County of L.A. website.
