DPSS Acting Director Antonia Jiménez Earns 2018 Public Innovation Award
Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) Acting Director Antonia Jiménez has earned the 2018 Public Innovation Award from the Network for Social Work Management (NSWM). Award winners were selected from a field of leaders nominated for demonstrating outstanding achievements in social work management.
The award was one of six bestowed during NSWM’s 29th Annual Management Conference in San Diego, where Jiménez served as keynote speaker for the first day of the conference. The event brought together leaders in social work and human services to present cutting edge management strategies.
Jiménez brings over 25 years of experience as a senior executive in government and the private sector to her work at DPSS. Currently, she oversees a workforce of 14,000 employees and manages an annual budget of $4 billion to provide services to 3.5 million low-income residents across Los Angeles County.
Prior to her role as Acting Director, Jiménez served as DPSS Chief Deputy, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for the Children and Families Well-Being Cluster, and and worked for 10 years with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Legislature.
In the private sector, Jiménez served as Senior Manager for Deloitte Consulting, where she headed projects within New York City, Pennsylvania’s Department of Public Health, and Solano County’s Health and Human Services Department. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Emmanuel College and has attended Senior Manager and Senior Executive Programs at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
