If you need IMMEDIATE/EMERGENCY help for medical, mental health, or crisis concerns, please call 911 or contact the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 and press 1. You do not need to be enrolled in the VA to access IMMEDIATE help from your local 911 Center or the Veterans Crisis Line.

Veteran Crisis Helpline

The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text. Veterans and their loved ones can call 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1, chat online, or send a text message to 838255 to receive confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Support for deaf and hard of hearing individuals is available. 

Department of Veterans Affairs – Veterans Health Administration

This site allows the veteran to apply on-line for Veteran Administration health care benefits.  The Veterans Health Administration is home to the United States’ largest integrated health care system consisting of 150 medical centers, nearly 1,400 community-based outpatient clinics, community living centers, Vet Centers and Domiciliaries.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI provides assistance to active-duty troops, veterans, and their families in accessing medical and behavioral health services, educational training, housing and obtaining benefits.

The Veteran's Health Care Overview provides a summary of veteran's health care programs, eligibility and other programs for veterans and their families.

California Access To Recovery Efforts - CARE Program

The CARE Program offers assistance to young service members/veterans who are age 25 or younger, and live in one of the target counties (Butte, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Shasta or Tehama) overcome problems related to alcohol or drug use. The CARE call center may be reached at 1.866.350.8773 for assistance and referral to an assessment provider near you. Young service members/veterans will be able to choose where and from whom they receive services that best match their personal needs. There is no cost for these services and military discharge status is not a barrier.

Addiction Resource

Addiction Resource was founded in 2014 to provide a community for those recovering from addiction and to help patients find the highest quality care for a successful recovery.  Addiction Resource’s goal is to provide resources to help patients and their loved ones so that they may stay on the road to recovery, and can successfully overcome addiction for life.  They believe in our ability to help improve the lives of others, and belief is what motivates us to educate and support our readers every day.  Addiction Resource is not a treatment center and does not accept payments or advertising offers. Instead, we work to provide free resources to help people better understand their addiction and motivate them to make the first step in seeking support.
