Community Services

DPSS offers community services that help you with Domestic Violence issues, resources for veterans and volunteers even with the Toy Loan Program for children.

Specialized Supportive Services

Once you enroll in CalWORKs and meet the welfare-to-work requirements, you may receive Domestic Violence services, treatment for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder, and other supportive services if needed.

Toy Loan

The Toy Loan program is a free service which allows children to borrow toys from a Toy Loan Center in the same manner in which they borrow books from the public library. There are various Toy Loan Centers throughout Los Angeles County.

Community Services Block Grant (CSBG)

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) supports and funds programs and services available in your community.  The Department of Public Social Services is the designated Community Action Agency (CAA) that oversees community programs and services in Los Angeles County and manages the County's CSBG program.

Youth Services

Are you, or someone in your household a teen who is pregnant or parenting? Did you know that the Cal-Learn Program can give your family additional money and services to help earn a High School Diploma?

The Former Foster Youth program provides Medi-Cal coverage up to age 26 for youth who were in Foster Care on their 8th birthday. 

 

Volunteer Services

The DPSS Volunteer Program provides a variety of volunteer opportunities to offer people of all ages, including organizations, that wish to serve the community, as well as DPSS employees, family, and friends.

 

Veterans and U.S. Military Resources

DPSS provides information on local and community-based benefits, services, and resources throughout Los Angeles County to assist those who have served in the military, and their families.
