WOMEN, INFANTS, AND CHILDREN (WIC)
SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION PROGRAM

If you are pregnant with low income and need health care services and nutrition education, WIC can help you with special checks called "vouchers" for buying healthy foods to keep you, your infant and children (up to age 5) healthy. WIC can also help you find a doctor, clinic or other health care provider.

What services are offered?
WIC provides vouchers for healthy foods such as milk, juice, eggs, cheese, and cereal, and support for breast-feeding mothers. The program also provides help with locating other health care and community services.

Who can be covered?
Children under 5 years (who have a nutritional risk such as anemia, dietary or weight problems), and women who are pregnant, breast-feeding or new mothers.

Is there an income limit?
Yes. To qualify for the program, the family's monthly income must be BELOW 185% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). If receiving Medi-Cal, the income must be BELOW 200% of the FPL.  See Charts below for further details.

To qualify for the program, the family's monthly income must be BELOW the income limit specified for the family size. For example, for a family size of two and NOT receiving Medi-Cal, the family's monthly income must be less than $1,841.

Is there a property limit?
No.

Can an individual receive services if he/she has other health insurance?
Yes.

Is citizenship or legal residency required?
No, but you must live in the service area as determined by the US Department of Agriculture.
