The Medi-Cal program pays for medical care for some people whose savings and income are too low for them to be able to pay
for their own care. Those people, in turn, may be required to pay the medical care costs back to Medi-Cal from what they
owned when they died. The amount repaid can then be used to pay for care for others who need it.
