Fraud Overpayments

9/30/09 1.

Question: When should an overpayment be reported to Welfare Fraud Program and Integrations (WFP&I)?

Answer: When the suspected fraud amount is over $35, the participant refuses to repay the supportive service overpayment and denies the allegation. The GSW must submit a referral to fraud per procedures in GAIN online policy, Chapter 1600, if the participant doesn't attend his/her appointment to discuss the overpayment, present proof to clear the overpayment, or agree with the County's overpayment claim.
