The Interagency Relations Section (IARS) provides support to the community by collaborating with other County Departments, community and government agencies and non-profit organizations to implement special programs to assist the needy. Additionally, IARS is responsible for the participation and coordination of Board-sponsored and community outreach events. IARS is involved with the following activities:

DPSS provides free tax preparation during the tax season for CalWORKs, Medi-Cal and Food Stamp participants with reported earnings through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The VITA program assists low-income families and individuals with free and reliable income tax assistance including tax preparation, Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC), and financial literacy materials. The VITA program is sponsored and administered by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). For more VITA information go here.

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Campaign is a countywide collaborative between various government agencies, non-profit organizations, community and faith based organizations, and private industry with the goal of raising awareness of the EITC and increasing the economic well being among Los Angeles County residents. The Welfare Advisory Committee (WAC) was established in 1976 to provide a mechanism for the Departmental Director to meet and consult with leaders of Welfare Rights Organizations (WRO) and heads of other community human services organizations interested in improving the quality of welfare services within the County of Los Angeles. The WAC provides a process for Department managers to meet and consult with community advocates and heads of community-based organizations to discuss issues of mutual concern. LACountyHelps web site is a free and anonymous way for the public to prescreen for health and human service programs that may be available to assist them and their families. The website allows you to fill in your personal circumstances to determine what programs may be of assistance. It also provides program descriptions, contact information, and items you will need to bring to an eligibility interview.
DPSS was the major contributor to this web site and currently liaisons with the CEO on the development and administration of this project. Interagency Relations Section coordinates all DPSS information that should be included in the web site. Go to the web site http://lacountyhelps.org/ |

211 is a 24 hour per day, 7 days a week telephone public information and referral service for Los Angeles County residents. Operators are available in many languages and offer about more than 28,000 health and human service programs throughout Los Angeles County. IARS promotes the 211 public information phone line by distributing marketing materials at all the district offices. |

IARS is involved with 2010 Census Complete County Committee with the goal of making every effort to have an accurate and complete count of every person residing in Los Angeles County. An accurate and complete count guarantees a fair allocation of Federal funding for important local community programs and legislative representation. |
